Hashtag Family Layout {Paperdvizhnik Challenge}

Hello everyone!  Can you believe I played along in a challenge?!
I know...it's been a LONG time {apart from the Prima Challenges of course}.
Time has not been on my side BUT after taking a few weeks off scrapbooking
earlier this month the consequences were DISASTROUS!

It was very difficult for me to get back into it & the layout I made is hidden
away & I can't even bring myself to put it into an album it's THAT BAD lol.
So I decided that no matter WHAT is going on in my life, I really NEED to
keep ''exercising" at least 3 times a week LOL or the results are NOT GOOD!!
I have stalked the Paperdvizhnik blog for years & not played there often at all
so here's to more participation from me in the future.  I love their challenges!
You can read their rules HERE - it seems all one has to do this time is use a #.

Yes it is inspired from Instagram - where you can find me HERE.
I am quite new to it & don't have the time to browse or over-use it
but it definitely is fun & another creative outlet full of inspiration...

So there you have it!  A "just for fun"layout created to keep stretching
my creative muscles!  I doodled the hearts & words myself & am
thinking I may just add them to every page - for a real
"signature style" as I think they are fun & funky!!

"Hello Darling" Layout for 7 Dots Studio

Hello again!  Back today to share my latest layout over at 7 Dots Studio HERE.
I used the 2014 COLD COUNTRY collection, designed by Ania Dabrowksa {Finnabair}.

My base paper is "Lost Letter"" & I have also used the word
& element stickers as well as the clear stamps from the same collection.

As you can see I got quite carried away here with both my base design
as well as my embellishing.  This page is the last page in my son's
school album, so I wanted to make it "fancy"!!

 I  used an ornate vintage doilymask {an actual plastic vintage doily}
 - they make THE BEST MASKS EVER} & thick modeling paste, at each side.

I gessoed over the entire background very thinly, using an old credit card,
then I stamped all over with black archival ink, then used lots of Izinks,
one of my latest obsessions, for the colourings.

My vintage mask was a gift from my sweet friend MITRA from the US,
as was this gorgeous bunch of Peacock feathers used.  My metals, bling
& embellishments all come from Prima, of which I am incredibly obsessed ♥

What looks like a metal frame coming out from under the photo is actually a locally
bought resin frame that comes already bronzed.  Ever so awesome.  I need more!!

The lovely shiny flairs comes from one of my new fave places, UmWow Studio.
I am trying a lot harder these days to keep my layouts flat but it's an uphill battle
at times I tell you.  I do love me a nice tactile flower cluster on occassion!!

HAPPY WEEKEND!

"Happy Today" Layout {2Crafty Chipboard - Prima Product Pick}

Hello again everyone!
Back today with my 2nd share for 2Crafty Chipboard
as I am up on their blog at the moment.

I used this month's Prima Product Pick as my inspiration.

How awesome are these 2Crafty word circles?!
They come in sets of 6 & I can't wait to use the rest.
So delicate to use as titles - LOVE them!

I also used the 6"Hexagon backing sheet that comes all connected
like mosaic tiles & you have to cut them apart at a few points.
I adhered those to my base paper before adding any mediums,
so they would become part of the texture.

I used Tsukineko Goosebump spray for the clear water droplet texture you can
see in the photo above, as well as layers of Prima Color Bloom sprays & gesso.
The flowers, leaves, crochet icons & the paper clip all come from Prima.

I also used a 6'' sheet of Chicken Wire chipboard to make another
textural layer, which I also used to hold down gauze around my photo stacks.
You may have noticed something glittery & textural on the background -
those are MICA FLAKES although they didn't photograph too well :)

Thanks for your visit today - I really appreciate it!

"Time Flies" Layout {2Crafty Chipboard} Prima BAP

It's my turn again over on the 2Crafty Chipboard blog today,
so I'm sharing my first layout with you - "Time Flies", using a
recent photo of my youngest daughter on her 14th birthday.

I used the Prima BAP as my inspiration.  A very lovely sketch by dear Keren.

I used a couple of the 6" Circle Revolution Frames - one behind
the photo stack & one right on top of the photograph.
{They are purchased as one set with many 'rings'}.
I gessoed it & used a Gold Ranger paint dabber on the side curves.

Finally I used one of the pairs of beautiful Prima Wooden Doors
that I've had in my stash for a couple of years now - I was really excited
to get them but have found them a bit tricky to place.  I muted these
with some gesso which I wiped over with a wet sponge.

I also used 3 out of 6 butterflies from the "Sharon's Butterflies"set -
I embossed them with gold then sponged them with white acrylic paint.
I also used a 2Crafty 12'' Doily Border, which I cut into 3 pieces, after
dabbing it with a gold paint dabber then sponging with white paint.

The base papers are from Prima Time Traveller & Seashore, as is the TIME title.
I have also used Prima alphas, Prima flowers, resins, bling & doily lace.

And of course Prima Color Bloom Sprays in Precious Stone,
Vintage Coal,  Antique Gold, Storm Cloud & Pearl White.
I have really got the hang of the sprays now & am LOVING them!!

''New Beginnings"Challenge - 7 Dots Studio - Cold Country

Hello everyone!  There's a new challenge over on the 7 Dots Studio blog at the moment,
the theme of which is "New Beginnings".  I chose to scrap this photo of my eldest son
{back left} with his friends at his school Graduation Dance last year.  As you can
see I journalled underneath the photo "Every Ending Brings a new Beginning".

Now they have all gone their separate ways & are studying all over the country
& some in different countries.  For my son, going to university has been his
perfect "2nd Chance"& definitely a new beginning for him.  He had a tough
time at high school & really appreciates the fresh start that university brought.

I used paper & stickers from one of 7 Dots Studio 2014 Collections - Cold Country.
The Cold steely grey/blue colours of this collection worked perfectly with the
colours in my photo.  I also used some grid chipboard from the Illumination
Collection, as an extra layer in my photo stack.  The mask I have used, & the 2
flairs, come from UmWow Studio HERE.

I really enjoyed getting painterly on this one.
I also used the Cold Country die-cut sheet on this layout as the
images of the smart gentlemen went perfectly with the theme of my page.
There are always wonderful prizes to be won when playing along with the
7 Dots Challenges so I hope you will play along if you have some 7 Dots
products you can use.  Thank you for your visit :)

'Smile" Layout - UmWow Studio Sketch Challenge

Hello there!
I am back today with a layout I created for the current sketch
challenge taking place over at UmWow Studio at present HERE.

Here is the sketch.  As you can see I turned it on it's side {one clockwise
turn to the right} to make it work with my landscape-orientation photo.

I used paper from 7 Dots Nature Walk Collection, designed by DeeDee Catron,
who also owns UmWow Studio, as well as an UmWow mask & flair.

The base paper already has some white paint flicks printed onto it so I just
added a few more in a couple of shades of green, as well as my masking, which
I misted while still wet for that lovely gel mediumy type of look you see there.

The chipboard word is from 2Crafty Chipboard & embossed with Gold
embossing powder, that seems to match everything these days & looks so luxe!

I printed directly on my photo as I like to do that sometimes.
I used my Canon Selphy printer, which is ever so handy, but
I did notice that the perforated line for trimming the photo
encrouched on the text so I will remember for next time not
to print my text up quite so close to the edge.  For now I
saw no reason to waste a lovely photo so used it as is.

I love the look of the Prima lace with a little random
misting using Prima Color Bloom Sprays.

The stickers also come from Nature Walk Collection from 7 Dots,
as do the butterfly stamps, as well as the negative sticker sheet
pieces I have misted up & used above & below my layout too.

Thanks so much or your visit & Happy Hump Day!

Giveaway Winner!! Could it be YOU?!

Thank you so much to everyone that entered my latest giveaway HERE.

It was by far my most popular giveaway!!  I know what everyone wants now!

7 Dots Studio products!!  In recent years 7 Dots has risen up as the best papercrafting
brand in Eastern Europe with it's unique recipe for bringing out collections designed
by top scrapbookers.  That is the key to their success in my opinion.  Scrapbooking
products need to be designed by scrapbookers as we are the ones that know how to
use the products, what will work & what won't, correct balance & proportion, etc.

Congratulations to Val Thorpe!  Please email me at scrapaddict {at} telkomsa {dot} net
asap with your postal address so I can get your parcel sent out to you this coming week.

I will definitely be having another giveaway in the next couple of months -
before Christmas!  So if you didn't win this time don't worry - I've already started
collecting some lovely goodies together for the next one for you coming up soon!!

"Fairytale Night" Layout for Scrap Around The World

Hello all!  So here I am back again with my take on the lovely new
Scrap Around The World mood board by our dear Design Team
member from The Netherlands - Amy Voorthuis.

I recently received some of the Time Traveller collection from Prima
via sweet Svetlana Austin from Colorful Memories right here in South Africa.

For the main Prima collections I buy them online to receive them really fast
but for the later 'mid-season' ones like Time Traveller & Seashore this year,
I like to support Sveta HERE as she has great prices & exceptional service ♥

I left this layout to the last minute, which is not like me, but I just didn't know
which way to go with the mood board because I am not at all a fairy person.

However, as I still had some photos from my son's finals dance at school last
year, they seemed appropriate to use & so I had a starting point...

I started of course with my background.  I began with gesso.  Always a safe
way to go!  Then I added some stencilling using gelatos, then some stamping
with Prima & 7 Dots Studio Stamps, then I brushed over with some metallic
glazes, some more stamping & some gelato shading.  Mixed media work
really has no set order - it's kind of like cooking a hearty stew.  You just
keep adding until it looks/tastes (in the case of the stew that is!) right...

What I have learnt over the years is that less is more & restraint
is a sign of artistic maturity.  It is very difficult not to keep loading
it on... Less is definitely more although of course layering is essential!!

Apart from my mediums I added some gold lacy tulle from Webster's
Pages {a few years back but I love it!} Some fine tulle {from the
Haberdashery store years ago...} & some gauze that I misted up in a
Dusty Pink colour.  The butterflies are handmade (but not by me LOL).

Due to my recent (ongoing!) destashing process I have uncovered some interesting
old stash hidden deep within those drawers of mine... including some lovely embossed
metal  frames from #whoknowswhere.com & rubbed them over with some glitter glaze.

And there you have it!  Come & play along with us this month won't you?
I am over-the-moon happy with our progress at SATW.  Things are going
so well for us there & it is a joy & a pleasure to be in charge of such a
remarkable selection of artists who inspire me constantly.
